The Bridge, Volume V, wins Pacemaker award

At the beginning of November, The Bridge added to its already impressive list of awards by winning the Pacemaker Award -- an honor that is widely regarded as the "Pulitzer Prize" of college publications. Comments about the winners can be read on the Associated College Press blog. About The Bridge, the judges had this to say:

"The top three places were put there in large part by their visual artists and crafts persons. In The Bridge, Despina Cunningham, Derrick J Zellmon, David George Jr., Adrienne Berklend and Nicole Fontenaulf brought it home visually, aided by David Bevens Jr.s’ Linda Brewer '20/20' stylized 'Scarred” (nonfiction) and Leah VanVaerenewyck’s imagistic beginning to 'Sense' (nonfiction)."

The journal also placed third for Best-in-Show. Simply being a finalist for the Pacemaker is an enormous honor; of all the journals entered nationwide, there are only 18 finalists. Only two were from Massachusetts: The Bridge, and Harvard's Tuesday Magazine. The awards were presented to Volume V at the 2008 ACP/CMA National College Media Convention in Kansas City, MO.
